Ledgowan offers something to suit all pockets...

Ledgowan offers something to suit all pockets - en-suite hotel accommodation, bunkhouse for walkers, and a campsite for tents, caravans or campervans. With the latter two also able to enjoy the facilities of the hotel, the bar, restaurant and lounge. And, we're open all day for lunch and evening meals in the bar or restaurant, as well as afternoon teas.

There are so many things to see up here - something for everyone, providing you accept that the weather is very changeable. You're likely to experience all four seasons in one day!

That said, we've beautiful (and clean) golden sandy beaches (Redpoint, for one), plenty of activities available for the active (such as hill walking and Munro bagging), wildlife watching - organised or do you own thing (if you want you can just sit in the hotel garden to catch a glimpse of red deer!), National Trust properties (Inverewe is just up the road). And, history in abundance (the Pictish trail - just one example) and lots of great events happening over the next few months (Highland Games). And for those in search of Game, stalking and fishing can be arranged for you.

If you haven't yet experienced the warmth of the welcome in the Highlands, and it's not a myth, do come and see us.

At the hotel, over the coming months we're planning a number of events, too, and those already scheduled are:

29 August:
Arts, Crafts and Gifts fair (with car boot). Open from 11am to 4pm. Admission free.

9 September (*special B&B rate):
Otter Talk by Paul Yoxon, of the Skye-based International Otter Survival Fund (IOSF). Start: 7.30pm. Admission: by donation - Paul makes no charge for his talks, therefore all proceeds from the evening will go to the IOSF to help with the upkeep of the baby otters in their care, before release back into the wild. For more information go to www.otter.org

This is the first of a number of wildlife talks we have planned for the autumn, we'll keep you posted here (or join our mailing list - click here)

26 September:
Arts, Crafts and Gifts fair (with car boot). Open from 11am to 4pm. Admission free.

17 October (*special B&B rate):
Mind, Body and Spirit fair. Open from 11am to 4pm. Admission free.

27 November (*special B&B rate):
Christmas Arts, Crafts and Gifts fair. Open from 11am to 4pm.
Admission free.

* A special event B&B rate of £38.00 per person is available against these dates - this is based on two people sharing a double or twin room.

In addition, our festive package details are now available - do contact us for further information. If you are planning a family Christmas event, or you need a venue for your company 'do', Ledgowan is ideal for large or smaller intimate occasions.

We look forward to seeing you!

It's beautiful up here in the winter...

A short history of Ledgowan Lodge Hotel

The hotel was originally built as a private shooting lodge in 1904, for a Major Ross as part of his 8,500 acre Ledgowan estate. It took six years to complete, being virtually 'hand' built. However, due to the high costs involved in running the estate it was sold to Lord Latymer of Coutts Bank, London. It remained in the family until the second World War, when the army used it as a barracks for their officers, but keeping it in top class condition. After the war Ledgowan remained empty for around 15 years. It was then discreetly converted into a country house hotel, and separated from the estate, although retaining most of its original charm and character.
